Skateboard Making Workshop

If you have a passion for skateboarding and want to create your own, we provide comprehensive lessons on shaping, cutting and forming your board with the added bonus of printing your custom art on the bottom as well! You can choose from a number of styles to create your dream board, from cruisers big and small, to fully shaped skateboards. The first day of the class will be spent creating your board, from stenciling to cutting, or vacuum pressing in the case of skateboards. This part takes up to 3 hours and by the end you will have your shaped board. The following lesson will be printing your custom artwork on the board! This part of the lesson will take up to 3 hours as well and will give you a look into the world of screen printing. The boards will then be dried overnight, allowing the art work enough time to cure. At this point we will apply varnish to the board, and you will return one more time to apply grip tape and leave with a totally handmade, custom board! This is a total of 3 visits to the studio to complete your project

Artwork Information:

It is really great if you can bring a simple 1 colour design that is unique to you for your finished product! It can be as simple as your name in your favourite script, or even a unique drawing! For groups of 2 or 3 the design must be 1 colour in order to make sure everyone gets enough time to print. If you’re a solo learner, we could accommodate a design up to 2 colours. It is important to remember that if designing a curved skateboard, it is much harder to apply a silkscreen image. Try not to have your image curl over the tail or go too close to the edges of the board, or it may get lost. If you are designing a flat cruiser type board, your art work can be full coverage. Go to our studio gallery or our shop front for examples of screen-printed boards! Designs can be brought to the lesson on a USB or can be emailed ahead of time. If you have any questions about designs, feel free to email us for advice or clarification! As we are all about empowering artists and helping bring your ideas to life, we do not print any art pulled off the internet. Work must be created by yourself or properly commissioned from an artist with rights to reproduce.

*Pricing varies depending on the style of board, come by the shop or send us an email for a complete price list!
